Disney+ and Hulu Just Raised Their Prices Again, and Ad-Free Plans Now Cost Over $21 a Month

Disney+ and Hulu subscribers are paying more again. Starting Wednesday, September 23, Disney raised prices across most of its standalone Disney+ and Hulu plans, the fourth increase in four years. New subscribers see the higher prices immediately, while existing subscribers will notice the change on their next billing cycle.

The New Standalone Prices

The ad-free Premium tiers took the biggest hit. Disney+ without ads climbs from $18.99 to $21.49 a month, and Hulu without ads makes the exact same jump, both up $2.50. The ad-supported versions of each service rose far more modestly, from $11.99 to $12.49, an increase of just fifty cents.

The Bundle Stays (Mostly) Put

Disney is holding the line on its most popular option, though not everywhere. The ad-supported Disney+/Hulu bundle stays flat at $12.99 a month, unchanged from before. The ad-free version of that same bundle isn’t so lucky, rising from $19.99 to $21.99. Cord-cutters leaning on Hulu + Live TV take the biggest single hit of all, with the base plan jumping a full ten dollars, from $89.99 to $99.99 a month.

Disney increasingly sells Disney+ and Hulu as a single bundled product, and it’s leaning on that bundle to keep subscribers from bailing over the standalone price hikes.

Disney’s Pitch: Everyone Else Is Worse

Disney framed the hike as restraint rather than a cash grab. In a statement, the company argued that competitors have raised prices by an average of 13% this year, while its own standalone ad-supported plans went up by only 4%, and it’s “keeping the price of our most popular bundle unchanged.” That framing lines up with the broader picture: Netflix, Apple TV, and Peacock have all raised their own prices at some point in 2026, so Disney isn’t moving in isolation.

A Pattern Four Years Running

This marks the fourth consecutive year Disney has raised its streaming prices, a steady climb from the $6.99 a month Disney+ charged with zero ads back when it launched in November 2019. Disney has also said it’s working toward folding Disney+ and Hulu into a single unified app by the end of the year, a change that could reshape how these plans and prices are packaged again before long.
