Forza Horizon 6 Developer Admits It Hasn’t Been Talking to Fans Enough, as PS5 Port Is Reportedly Delayed to 2027
Forza Horizon 6 developer Playground Games is addressing growing frustration from its community, posting a statement on October 6 that admits it “haven’t been talking with you as much as we could be.” The message lands the same week a new report claims the racer’s long-delayed PS5 port has slipped from this year into January 2027, with a physical disc edition joining the digital release.
Playground Games Breaks Its Silence
In the message, posted to the studio’s official X account, Playground Games said it had been reading through player feedback and realized its communication had fallen short. The studio added that it hears the criticism of its post-launch updates and is looking into future changes to both in-game content and the ways it talks to players, while promising to keep delivering regular content and fixes in the meantime.
The response follows weeks of mounting frustration from Forza Horizon 6 players. A lack of communication appears to be the biggest single grievance, but it isn’t the only one, with some players also pointing to repetitive post-launch content, technical issues, and quieter in-game Car Meets since the open-world racer launched on Xbox Series X|S and PC on May 19. Playground Games didn’t lay out a specific new communication plan, but speaking up publicly at all marks a shift after months of near-silence on the subject.

A PS5 Delay That Isn’t Official Yet
As recently as September, Playground Games and Xbox maintained that the PS5 version was still on track for later this year. That timeline is now in doubt. According to leaker billbil-kun, the PS5 port has been pushed to January 26, 2027, and will get a physical disc release at retail alongside the digital version, a rarity for PS5 titles these days. Microsoft hasn’t announced any change to the PS5 release window, so for now the new date should be treated as an unconfirmed report rather than a done deal.
What’s Keeping Playground Games Busy
Part of the slower pace may simply come down to how much Playground Games has on its plate. The studio is still finishing the PS5 port, preparing the first of two paid expansions for Forza Horizon 6, and readying an October content update themed around city life, all on top of its long-running work on Fable. Playground Games also formally merged with Turn 10 Studios in September as part of a wider Xbox restructuring, with the combined team now built specifically around the Forza and Fable franchises.
