Bad Monkey Season 2 Trailer Reveals December 2 Release Date and Adds John Malkovich to the Cast

Apple TV has released the first trailer for the second season of Bad Monkey, confirming that the Vince Vaughn comedy’s new ten-episode run begins streaming December 2. Based on Carl Hiaasen’s New York Times bestselling novel, the season tells an entirely new, standalone story rather than picking up directly from where the first season left off.

A New Murder Pulls Yancy Back In

After Andrew Yancy (Vaughn) witnesses the murder of one of Florida’s most notorious fixers, an ambitious state attorney pairs him with a strait-laced forensic accountant to crack the case. The investigation drags Yancy into a turf war between rival criminal organizations, forcing him to deal with an erudite mob boss, the boss’s unhinged son, and a hard-edged young woman who needs his protection. Away from the case, Yancy is also juggling his aging father, lingering romantic tension with Dr. Rosa Campesino (Natalie Martinez), who is chasing down her own mystery involving a strange rash, and a bombastic animal relocation specialist whose business is putting the local environment at risk.

John Malkovich Joins a Returning Cast

Vaughn, Martinez, Charlotte Lawrence, and John Ortiz are all back for season two, joined by three new additions to the main cast, John Malkovich, Yvonne Strahovski, and Zavior Phillips. The season’s guest roster is just as packed, with Nate Jackson, Sofia Boutella, Brent Morin, Joey Avery, Dax Shepard, Sam Jaeger, Margarita Levieva, Peter Billingsley, and June Diane Raphael all set to appear across the ten episodes.

From Bestseller to Streaming Hit

Bad Monkey is developed by Bill Lawrence (Ted Lasso, Scrubs) through his Doozer Productions, under its overall deal with Warner Bros. Television, which also produces the series. Vaughn serves as an executive producer alongside Lawrence, Jeff Ingold, Matt Tarses, Liza Katzer, Adam Sztykiel, Chris Downey, and Hiaasen himself. The show debuted on Apple TV in August 2024 and was renewed for a second season that December, and its new episodes will roll out weekly after the December 2 premiere, continuing through February 3, 2027.
