Rayman Legends Retold Delayed to December, Even Though It Already Went Gold

Rayman Legends Retold isn’t launching in October after all. Ubisoft announced on September 15 that its 3D remake of the beloved 2013 platformer is being pushed back roughly two months, from October 1 to December 3, 2026, on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The twist is that the game had already gone gold, meaning a finished, shippable build existed before the delay was even announced.

Gold, But Not Done Yet

In a short statement, Ubisoft said, “While the game has officially gone gold, we have decided to take extra time to make sure every detail gets the care it deserves.” That’s an unusual position for a studio to be in publicly. Going gold typically signals a game is done and ready for certification and manufacturing, so choosing to delay anyway suggests Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan, the two studios leading development, want extra polish passes rather than fixes for anything critical.

What Rayman Legends Retold Actually Changes

The remake rebuilds the original Rayman Legends in full 3D visuals rather than the 2013 game’s hand drawn 2D art, and it can be played solo or with up to four players in couch co-op. Ubisoft says the new version wraps its levels in a fresh, fully voiced story and adds a never before seen sixth realm alongside new musical stages and an expanded soundtrack. Buyers also get Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition bundled in as bonus content. It’s a genuinely large package for a $39.99 standard edition, and part of why fans were willing to shrug off a short delay rather than get upset over it.

A Quieter Window in December

Ubisoft hasn’t tied the delay to anything beyond wanting more polish, but the new date is hard to ignore. October and November 2026 are stacked with major releases jostling for attention around Grand Theft Auto VI’s own November launch, and a two month jump lands Rayman Legends Retold in a noticeably calmer December instead. Whether that played into the decision or not, it’s a reasonable side effect either way.

What’s Next

Ubisoft’s plans for a Game Overview trailer, along with the first press and creator hands on impressions, are still set for September 22. That should give a clearer look at how the extra development time is being spent before Rayman Legends Retold finally launches on December 3.
