Warner Bros. Delays New Gremlins Movie Nearly a Year, Shifts DC’s Dynamic Duo to Fall 2028
Warner Bros. is shaking up its 2028 movie calendar, and two of its higher-profile titles are on the move. The still-untitled new Gremlins film is sliding almost a year down the schedule, while DC’s animated Dynamic Duo is shifting three months to steer clear of a rival blockbuster.
The New Gremlins Movie Slides Nearly a Year
The still-untitled Gremlins sequel, previously set for November 19, 2027, now arrives October 6, 2028. Chris Columbus, who co-wrote the 1984 original, is making his directorial debut on the franchise from a screenplay he wrote alongside Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein. Steven Spielberg returns as executive producer through Amblin Entertainment, and the mogwai are staying true to their roots: the production is keeping traditional puppets and animatronics at the core of the effects work rather than going fully digital.

Dynamic Duo Steps Aside for Call of Duty
DC’s Dynamic Duo, the animated film tracing the early days of Dick Grayson and Jason Todd as Robin, is moving from June 30 to September 22, 2028. The shift appears designed to clear that June date for Paramount’s Call of Duty adaptation, with Taylor Sheridan attached as writer. Dynamic Duo is directed by Arthur Mintz through his Swaybox studio, blending stop-motion, CGI, and puppetry into a distinctive visual style; Matthew Aldrich’s original script has since been reworked by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber. The film sits outside James Gunn’s core DC Universe, part of a separate Batman-focused line tied to Matt Reeves’ films rather than mainline DCU continuity.
