Cult of the Lamb Is Coming to Switch 2 on October 22, and Current Owners Upgrade for Free
Massive Monster has confirmed that Cult of the Lamb is bleating its way onto Nintendo Switch 2 on October 22, bringing the cult-building roguelike to Nintendo’s newest hardware just over four years after its original console debut. The best part for returning players: nobody who already owns the game has to pay for it twice.
A Free Upgrade for Cultists Already in the Flock
Anyone who already owns Cult of the Lamb on the original Switch will be able to upgrade to the Switch 2 version at no extra cost. Players who don’t yet own the game will pay the same price as the existing Switch version when the upgrade goes live next week, so newcomers aren’t footing a premium just for jumping in on newer hardware.

Cult of the Lamb’s dungeon-crawling and cult-management loop is making the jump to Switch 2 largely intact, just running on stronger hardware.
From Launch Hit to Years of Free Content
Cult of the Lamb launched in August 2022 and sold a million copies in its first week alone, a breakout result for developer Massive Monster and publisher Devolver Digital. Gamersuniverse called it a charming blend of lovable and eerie in our original review, and the game has kept growing since, with Massive Monster rolling out multiple free updates over the years, including the Relics of the Old Faith and Sins of the Flesh content drops that added new bosses, areas, and mechanics at no added cost.
“Cultists that already own COTL on Switch 1 can upgrade for FREE.”

That track record of supporting the game for free makes the Switch 2 upgrade path feel consistent with how Massive Monster has treated its community since launch, rather than a one-off gesture. With Switch 2 now hosting a growing library of upgraded indie and first-party hits, Cult of the Lamb joining the lineup on October 22 gives existing cultists one more reason to dust off their save file.
