God of War Laufey Delayed to May 2027, Three Months Past Its Original Release Date
Santa Monica Studio has delayed God of War Laufey. The PlayStation 5 exclusive, which follows Faye as she navigates the afterlife realm known as the Everywhen, was originally set to launch on February 16, 2027. It will now arrive on May 20, 2027, a shift of just over three months.
A Statement From the Studio
The news came via a statement posted to Santa Monica Studio’s official God of War Laufey account on November 4. The developer said it has been “deeply grateful” for the excitement surrounding Faye’s story since the game’s reveal back in June, adding that it does not take for granted the trust fans have placed in the studio to deliver an experience worthy of that passion. Rather than rushing to the original date, the team says the extra time will go toward polish.
“Putting in the finishing touches and pushing the game to its fullest potential.”

A Fresh Direction for the Series
God of War Laufey centers entirely on Faye, voiced by Deborah Ann Woll, rather than Kratos or Atreus, picking up with her awakening in the Everywhen after her death at the start of God of War (2018). The Boys actor Jack Quaid co-stars as Phranque, a gelatinous cube who accompanies Faye on her journey. Santa Monica Studio has confirmed that a new Kratos-led entry is already in the works and will pick up where Laufey leaves off. Even with the delay, the game will still launch within roughly a year of its June reveal, a comparatively fast turnaround for the series.
