Nathan Drake Actor Nolan North Says He’d Return for Uncharted 5, With One Condition
Amid growing rumors that Naughty Dog is developing an all-new Uncharted game, Nolan North, the actor and voice behind Nathan Drake, says he would jump at the chance to put the character’s mo-cap suit back on, as long as the studio gets it right.
“110%. Absolutely.”
Speaking at Gamergy in Puerto Rico, North didn’t hesitate when asked if he’d reprise the role. He said he keeps himself in shape just in case Naughty Dog comes calling again, and that nothing could make him turn the part down if it meant finishing Drake’s story the right way. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End closed out the character’s arc in 2016, but North made clear that ending never felt like a door he wanted shut for good.
His One Catch: Don’t Pull an Indiana Jones
North’s condition isn’t about money or creative control, it’s about protecting the franchise’s reputation. He pointed to Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull as a cautionary tale, an otherwise beloved series getting a late entry that didn’t live up to what came before. North would rather Uncharted stay retired for good than see Drake return in a game that undercuts the trilogy’s legacy.
“It would be the biggest announcement in gaming. I don’t think that’s hyperbole.”

Where This Fits Into the Uncharted 5 Rumors
North’s comments land right as reports suggest Naughty Dog is already working on a new, non-remake Uncharted game, reportedly led by Lost Legacy director Shaun Escayag and slotted in after Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Sources say Drake is expected to appear in some capacity, though his exact role hasn’t leaked. Nothing has been confirmed by Sony or Naughty Dog, so all of this, including North’s own hopes, remains speculation for now.
