No Man’s Sky Is Coming to iPhone and iPad on October 28 With the Complete Game
Hello Games has confirmed that No Man’s Sky is coming to iPhone and iPad on October 28, bringing the complete space exploration and survival game to Apple’s mobile devices for the first time. Preorders for the port opened October 12 on the App Store as part of Apple’s Indie Games Week, and the release follows a free to try model, letting players explore the opening hours at no cost before unlocking the full game with a one time $19.99 purchase.
The Whole Galaxy, Not a Stripped Down Version
Hello Games has been firm that the port carries over everything from the PC, console, and Switch releases, including every major update up through the recent Cosmos expansion. “This is not No Man’s Sky Lite,” the studio said of the release, and the install itself has been trimmed to under 5GB, a steep drop from the roughly 32GB the PC version takes up. The touch controls and interface were redesigned specifically for mobile play, though the game also supports external controllers, as well as mouse and keyboard on iPad.

Some of the Same Switch Launch Limitations Apply
As with the original Nintendo Switch release, the iPhone and iPad version launches with a few concessions. Multiplayer isn’t supported at all, and Planetary Settlements, the base building feature added in a later update, are limited to the newest hardware, requiring an iPhone 15 Pro or a comparable iPad to run. Hello Games says the port was also built with battery life in mind, aiming for long, comfortable play sessions rather than draining a phone’s charge within an hour. Sean Murray has described the entire project as growing out of a team member’s offhand idea that the game could run on an iPhone at all, a challenge he initially expected to be all but impossible.
