Silent Hill Producer Confirms Konami Is Already Planning a Second and Third Wave of New Games
Silent Hill’s revival is only getting started. In a new interview with Famitsu, series producer Motoi Okamoto confirmed that Konami is already planning further entries in the franchise, describing the three games released so far, Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill f, and Silent Hill: Townfall, as merely the first wave of a much longer rollout.
“We’re Not Stopping Here”
Okamoto said Konami was relieved that all three announced titles reached release without issue. “All three titles we initially announced were able to be released successfully, so we’re relieved (laughs),” he said, before confirming the franchise’s future is already being mapped out. “We’re not stopping here, we must think of the second and third waves.” Pressed for specifics, he kept the details under wraps for now. “We can’t share specific details, but we’re currently looking at a number of projects.”

A Hard-Won Second Chance
Getting Konami’s management on board wasn’t easy. Okamoto said persuading the company’s executives to greenlight new Silent Hill entries took real effort, especially in the shadow of Hideo Kojima’s Silent Hills, the project cancelled back in 2015. He argued that a single remake wouldn’t be enough to secure the series’ future, worried that one release alone would make fans fear another cancellation down the line. Bloober Team, the studio behind Silent Hill 2 Remake, is reportedly already working on a remake of the original 1999 game, though Okamoto didn’t confirm whether that project is part of the second wave or a separate effort. It’s also unclear whether NeoBards Entertainment and Screen Burn Interactive, the studios behind Silent Hill f and Silent Hill: Townfall respectively, will return for whatever comes next.
Townfall’s own reception may have helped make the case internally. Gamersuniverse’s own look at the game’s launch reviews found a strong critical response built around its radio-static CRTV device, part of the wider wave of acclaim that Okamoto says gave Konami the confidence to keep going.
