Tracker Season 4 Premiere Date Confirmed, and CBS’s Hit Show Just Left Vancouver Behind
Colter Shaw is trading the misty forests of British Columbia for the California coastline. CBS has confirmed that Tracker Season 4 premieres Sunday, October 4, and the hit crime procedural is kicking off its new season with a major behind-the-scenes change: production has relocated from Vancouver to Los Angeles.
A Move Built Into the Story
After three seasons filming around Vancouver, British Columbia, and at Vancouver Film Studios, Tracker packed up for Los Angeles ahead of Season 4, drawn by a California tax incentive program that nets the show a reported $48 million credit on its production spending. Star and executive producer Justin Hartley addressed the switch in a statement: “I’m also very excited we’re bringing Tracker to L.A.” Showrunner Elwood Reid echoed that location has always been central to how the show tells its stories, and thanked the Vancouver crew for the first three seasons.

What “Safe Harbor” Has in Store
The Season 4 premiere, titled “Safe Harbor,” puts the new setting to immediate use. Colter’s search for a missing father leads him into a dangerous criminal operation at the Port of Los Angeles, an early sign that the West Coast relocation is shaping the cases Colter takes on this season, not just the scenery behind him.
New Faces, and an Old Cliffhanger
Season 4 also brings cast changes. Cassady McClincy Zhang, who played Reenie’s assistant Mel Day in a recurring role last season, has been promoted to series regular, while Michael Malarkey joins in a recurring role as Adam, a PI with ties to Reenie’s past. Jensen Ackles is also expected back as Colter’s estranged brother Russell Shaw, continuing a thread left hanging since the Season 3 finale, when Russell walked away with a file containing a mysterious reveal about something their father did to Colter as a child. Exactly when Russell shows up in Season 4 hasn’t been announced yet.
When to Watch
Tracker Season 4 premieres Sunday, October 4, at 9:30 p.m. ET on CBS, a one-time slot following the Season 2 premiere of the Yellowstone spinoff Marshals, before both shows revert to their regular timeslots on October 11 (Tracker back at 9:00 p.m.). New episodes stream on Paramount+ the next day for Essential subscribers, or live for Premium subscribers. Tracker’s second season was the most-watched show on any network in the 2024-25 TV season, averaging roughly 17.3 million viewers, so expect Season 4 to make plenty of noise when it returns.
