WAR Premieres on HBO and Sky With Dominic West and Sienna Miller, and Season 2 Already Has Its Cast

HBO and Sky’s new legal drama WAR premiered on Thursday, October 1, pitting Dominic West and Sienna Miller against each other in a scandalous celebrity divorce, and the anthology series already has a second season in the works before most viewers have even started the first.

Two Law Firms, One Scandalous Divorce

Created by George Kay (Lupin, Criminal) and directed by Ben Taylor (Sex Education), the eight-episode first season centers on the separation of tech mogul Morgan Henderson (West) and international film star Carla Duval (Miller), a case that pits rival London firms Cathcarts & Sons and Taylor & Byrne against each other. Phoebe Fox and James McArdle play opposing partners Serena Byrne and Nicholas Taylor, Nina Sosanya and Pip Torrens round out Cathcarts as Beatrice “Queen Bea” Ubosi and St John Smallwood, and Archie Renaux plays Jonathan “Johnny” Warren, an ambitious young lawyer pulled into the fight. WAR is produced by New Pictures and Observatory Pictures in association with HBO and Sky, airing on HBO and HBO Max in the US, with Sky and NOW carrying it across the UK, Ireland, and Italy.

An Anthology Already Building Its Next Case

WAR picked up a two-season order before its premiere, and it’s structured as an anthology, meaning Season 2 swaps in a new case rather than continuing Henderson and Duval’s story. Production on the follow-up is already underway, with Marisa Tomei, Kelly Macdonald, and David Harewood joining a season built around an explosive defamation case. Kay previewed the show’s tone while announcing the series, saying “WAR is a legal drama full of double crossing, scandal, twists and betrayal.”
