The biggest Call of Duty Beta yet just opened its doors to everyone. Starting August 28 and running through September 1, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta is free to play across XBOX Series X|S, XBOX on PC, PlayStation 5, Steam, Battle.net, and Nintendo Switch 2, with no pre-order required. Developed by Infinity Ward, Modern Warfare 4 is set to launch globally on October 23, 2026, and Weekend Two brings the most complete look yet at what’s coming.

What’s New in Weekend Two

For the first time in Call of Duty Beta history, players can deploy into a full Campaign mission before launch. “Entrenched” puts you alongside friendly infantry and armor in a large-scale assault to stop a vital nuclear power station from falling into enemy hands. Weekend Two also introduces the Mobility Course, a dedicated training space for learning Modern Warfare 4’s expanded movement systems, plus a fresh Combat Record and Gunny-assisted Gunsmith loadout recommendations.

New Multiplayer Modes, Maps, and Warzone Resurgence

Multiplayer expands with two brand-new modes: Inflation, where every elimination grows your bounty and your target on your back, and Hijack, a Data Spike-based attack-and-defend mode. Six Core 6v6 maps are in rotation, spanning snowy New York rooftops, a rain-soaked South Korean shopping district, and a Korean fishing village, alongside two 24v24 Ground War battlegrounds set in the Haijin region. Kill Block also returns with its ever-shifting Slab layout, now supporting a 10v10 Gunfight variant alongside the classic 3v3.

On the Warzone side, the Beta debuts Resurgence on Zodiac, a compact map built around a drone assembly facility, complete with an underground tunnel network, a central Trackline, and a promised tank battle for squads fighting to outlast the competition.

Modern Warfare 4’s Beta features 19 Multiplayer weapons across nine classes, with three more unlockable through Campaign and Default Loadouts.

How to Jump In

No pre-order or Beta code is needed for Weekend Two. Simply search for “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Beta” on your platform’s store — Xbox Store, PlayStation Store, Steam, Battle.net, or the Nintendo eShop — and install it directly. Progress earned during Weekend One carries over, so returning players can pick up right where they left off, while newcomers start fresh at Level 1.

What This Means Ahead of Launch

With a Campaign mission, a full Multiplayer suite, and a new Warzone map all playable weeks before release, Infinity Ward is clearly using this Beta to make its biggest first impression yet.
