Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Sets October 30 Premiere on Paramount+, and Dan Stevens Joins as a New Serial Killer
Dexter: Resurrection is coming back just in time for Halloween. Paramount+ has confirmed that Season 2 premieres on Friday, October 30, a release date the streamer is tying directly to the franchise’s 20th anniversary, since the original Dexter first aired in 2006. Alongside the date, Paramount+ dropped a teaser trailer built around an optometrist visit that ends with Dexter Morgan slipping on a pair of glasses and staring down the camera, under the tagline “He’s Back. And Sharper Than Ever.”
Two New Killers, One New York City
Michael C. Hall returns as Dexter Morgan, who according to the official synopsis is still living by The Code, this time while working through a New York City stretched between two very different killers. Brian Cox plays the New York Ripper, a killer with a long, notorious history behind him, while Dan Stevens plays the Five Borough Killer, a younger, Zodiac-style figure who taunts the police over the phone rather than staying quiet. The two roles give Dexter a generational contrast to hunt this season, an old-guard predator on one side and an attention-seeking new one on the other.
Harrison, played by Jack Alcott, is chasing his own version of justice this season, now working toward a career with the NYPD.
Uma Thurman’s Charley Returns, and Harrison Picks a Side of the Law
Uma Thurman is back as Charley, while Jack Alcott’s Harrison continues to chase his own sense of justice, this time working toward a career with the NYPD instead of following his father’s methods directly. Desmond Harrington has been promoted to series regular as Joey Quinn, joined by Bokeem Woodbine as Capt. Mixon and Nona Parker Johnson as Fiona Mixon. On the guest side, Gabriel Luna joins as Ray Ballard, also known as the Sleepy-Eyed Stranger, and Krysten Ritter returns as Mia LaPierre, or Lady Vengeance, a character fans had assumed didn’t survive Season 1.
Behind the Scenes
Clyde Phillips remains showrunner and executive producer, with the season once again produced by Paramount Television Studios and Counterpart Studios. Production got underway in New York City back in April, and the official logline frames the season around Dexter and Harrison facing another difficult chapter together, father and son, even as they pursue justice in very different ways.
With the premiere date locked in and its two new killers introduced, Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 arrives on Paramount+ on October 30.
