Metaphor: ReFantazio’s Switch 2 Demo Is Out Now, With Save Data Carrying Over to the Full Game

Atlus has released a free demo for Metaphor: ReFantazio on the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop, giving players their first hands-on look at the acclaimed RPG ahead of its console debut next month. The prologue demo covers the opening section of the game, and any progress made carries over directly into the full release when it launches on November 12.

A Free Taste Before the Full Release

The demo lets new and returning players step into the United Kingdom of Euchronia, where the assassination of the king and the invocation of a secretive power known as the Royal Magic plunge the nation into a tournament for the throne. Progress and save data earned in the demo transfer straight into the full game, so nothing played now goes to waste. Metaphor: ReFantazio launches on Switch 2 for $39.99 in North America and £34.99 in the UK and Europe, with a physical release shipping on a game key card and a SteelBook Edition available for a limited time at launch in the West.

From Persona’s Creators to Switch 2, Two Years Later

Metaphor: ReFantazio originally launched on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in October 2024, developed by Studio Zero, the team behind the Persona series. The game swept Best Role-Playing Game, Best Narrative, and Best Art Direction at The Game Awards 2024 and became Atlus’ fastest-selling release ever, moving one million copies on its first day alone. The Switch 2 version marks the game’s console debut outside of PlayStation and Xbox, bringing the fantasy RPG to Nintendo’s new hardware nearly two years after its original release.
