Oblivion and Ghostwire: Tokyo Join GOG’s DRM-Free Preservation Program

GOG has added The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition and Ghostwire: Tokyo to its Preservation Program, giving both games fresh, DRM-free releases on the storefront. The update went live on October 15, alongside launch discounts of 75 percent on each title.

What Changed With the New Builds

Oblivion’s GOG build (version 1.2.0416 GOG v3) adds five localizations, English, German, French, Italian, and Spanish, along with support for modern controllers including PlayStation, Xbox, Switch Pro, and Nvidia Shield pads, plus hot-plugging without a restart. GOG also fixed an Alt+Tab task-switching bug and a memory leak that occurred while rebinding controller buttons.

Ghostwire: Tokyo’s update strips out its old Bethesda.net integration entirely. The login modal is gone from the main menu, and the bonus previously tied to a Bethesda.net account now unlocks automatically on first launch. Both builds were validated for stability on Windows 10 and 11.

Oblivion’s original Game of the Year Edition now runs DRM-free on GOG, twenty years after its initial release.

Pricing and Availability

Both games launched on GOG at 75 percent off. Oblivion is discounted from $19.99 to $4.99 through October 26, while Ghostwire: Tokyo is down from $59.99 to $14.99 through October 29. As with every title in the Preservation Program, buyers get offline installers with no launcher requirement and no internet connection needed to play, the same DRM-free model Gamersuniverse broke down in detail previously.
