The Miami Heat Are Turning an NBA Game Into a Live GTA 6 Vice City Event

Grand Theft Auto VI is about to take over an actual NBA court. The Miami Heat have announced “A Night in Vice City,” a specially themed home game against the Milwaukee Bucks on November 18, 2026, the evening before GTA 6 launches. The Heat will debut a reimagined uniform and a one-off court design built around Rockstar’s Vice City, turning Kaseya Center into the game’s fictional setting for one night.

A Night in Vice City

According to the Heat’s own announcement, the game tips off at Kaseya Center and airs on ESPN, with Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks as the opponent. The team says it will wear a “completely reimagined uniform” for the night, paired with a Vice City court that has not been used for any other game. Neither the Heat nor Rockstar has shown what the jersey actually looks like yet, so the design itself is still under wraps heading into November.

The $975,000 Sign That Started It

The game night is the latest step in a marketing push that began in September, when a giant “Welcome to Vice City” sign went up on the roof of Kaseya Center as part of a reported $975,000 deal between Rockstar and the arena. Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava approved that deal herself, without putting it to a vote from the county’s Board of Commissioners, with the figure reportedly landing just under the $1 million threshold that would have required one.

The approval didn’t sit well with everyone. Miami-Dade Commissioner Juan Carlos Bermudez said, “I still cannot believe that we are even considering temporarily rebranding important County assets,” and indicated he would have voted against it had it reached the board. Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz raised a similar objection, questioning why county government would promote a game built around crime and violence against law enforcement while also fighting real crime in the community.

Where GTA 6 Stands

Controversy aside, the marketing blitz is hard to miss with Grand Theft Auto VI now less than seven weeks out. The game launches November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a $79.99 standard edition and a $99.99 Ultimate Edition, alongside the $399.99 Vice City Collector’s Edition that ships the same day. Whatever the jerseys end up looking like, November 18 is shaping up to be one of the louder stops on the road to launch, right alongside the debate over what GTA 6 is doing to game prices.
