The Rings of Power Season 3 Reveals New Featurette on the Making of the One Ring

Sauron is running out of time, and so is everyone trying to stop him. With The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power approaching its third season, a new exclusive featurette has given fans their first real look behind the scenes at one of the show’s most consequential moments: the forging of the One Ring itself.

A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Sauron’s Greatest Weapon

The featurette combines on-set footage with interviews from Simon Pegg, Jamie Campbell Bower, Robert Aramayo, Morfydd Clark, Charlie Vickers, and Ciarán Hinds, who all break down the One Ring’s place in Middle-earth history and what it means for the series to finally show its creation on screen. Fans already know what the Ring eventually becomes across The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, but Season 3 is the first time the show has been able to dramatize the object actually taking shape.

Sauron’s forces have conquered most of Middle-earth by the start of Season 3, leaving only a handful of strongholds still standing.

What The Rings of Power Season 3 Is About

Season 3 picks up five years after the fall of Eregion, with Sauron’s armies having overrun nearly all of Middle-earth. Only a few strongholds remain out of his reach: Khazad-dûm, sealed off deep within the mountain, and the elven realms of Lindon and Rivendell, still protected by their Three Rings. Holed up in his newly finished tower of Barad-dûr, Sauron is pouring everything into completing the weapon he believes will finally crush what’s left of the resistance, forcing Elves, Dwarves, Men, and Wizards to set aside their differences and find a way to unite before he succeeds.

Release Schedule for Season 3

The eight-episode season will roll out in three batches on Prime Video rather than all at once. The first four episodes premiere on November 11, followed by episodes five and six on November 18, with the final two episodes closing out the season on November 25. The first two seasons, all sixteen episodes, are already streaming on Prime Video for anyone looking to catch up before the Ring is forged.
