Final Fantasy XIV’s Patch 7.58 Expands Cross-Data Center Matchmaking to NA and EU
Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XIV’s Patch 7.58, arriving on November 10, will roll out same-region player matching to the North American and European data centers. The feature was previously trialed on the Japanese data center with Patch 7.57 and is now expanding worldwide, with the goal of shrinking matchmaking and queue times across the board.
How Same-Region Matching Works
Final Fantasy XIV’s server structure is built in layers. Each physical data center (Japan, North America, Europe and Oceania) contains several logical data centers, which in turn each hold a handful of individual Worlds. Until now, systems like the Duty Finder and Party Finder could only match players within the same logical data center, even though an entire physical data center might span several of them. Once Patch 7.58 lands, that restriction opens up so that any player within the same physical data center can be matched together, regardless of which logical data center their World belongs to.

Traveling between Worlds will also become easier under the new system, folded into the existing “Visit Another World Server” option instead of requiring a separate Data Center Travel trip.
What Changes for Players
A wide range of systems will switch from logical to physical data center matching once the patch goes live, including the Duty Finder, Party Finder, Crystalline Conflict ranked matches, cross-world linkshells, PvP teams and Fellowships. Friend list tells and party invites will also work across the whole region instead of being limited to a single logical data center. Features tied specifically to a character’s Home World, such as housing, retainers, Free Company membership and the market board, are not affected and will continue to work exactly as before.

Organizing groups for high-end content like primal fights should get noticeably easier once listings pull from the whole region instead of a single logical data center.
Fewer Queues, With a Few Side Effects
For newer players chasing a specific alliance raid or an older duty with a thin population, the wider matchmaking pool should cut down significantly on the long waits that can come with being stuck on a single logical data center. The change does come with some housekeeping: since cross-world linkshells, PvP teams and Fellowships will now be merged into one database per physical data center, any duplicate names will have a number appended to tell them apart, and players who ended up in nine or more cross-world linkshells through data center travel will need to use the existing “Organize CWLS” tool to consolidate them. Square Enix also confirmed that direct Data Center Travel between logical data centers within North America or within Europe will be phased out in favor of the new World Visit option, though travel from either region to the Oceania data center remains unchanged.
The update continues a string of quality-of-life changes Square Enix has been rolling out ahead of the Evercold expansion, which is set to release on February 23, 2027.

My personal experience shows that sometimes the latency difference between regions still affects performance. This change might improve queue times for some players but not others.
