Apple TV Releases the First Nocturne Trailer, a Liev Schreiber Crime Thriller Premiering October 30

Apple TV released the first full trailer and official key art for Nocturne on September 29, confirming the crime thriller will premiere globally on October 30 with its first two episodes. Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz, and Stephen Graham lead the 10-episode series, which adapts the bestselling novel “The Sandman” by Swedish author Lars Kepler.

A Detective, an FBI Agent, and a Killer Who Won’t Stay Buried

Schreiber stars as Jonah Lynn, an ex-soldier turned homicide detective who relocates from Philadelphia to a quiet Pennsylvania town, only to find his new home isn’t as peaceful as he hoped. Graham plays Jurek Walter, a cunning serial killer whose reach soon threatens Jonah’s town and his family, forcing him to decide how far he’s willing to go, including putting his surrogate daughter in the killer’s path. That daughter is Beetz’s character, FBI Agent Saga Bauer, who becomes central to the hunt as the season unfolds.

Nocturne premieres October 30 on Apple TV, with Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz, and Stephen Graham leading the cast.

Based on a 20-Million-Copy Bestseller, Not the Other Sandman

Nocturne is based on “The Sandman,” part of Lars Kepler’s Joona Linna crime series, whose ten novels have sold roughly 20 million copies worldwide. It’s worth clearing up any confusion early: this has nothing to do with Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman comics or its Netflix adaptation, which remains a completely separate fantasy property on a different streamer. Rowan Joffé created the series for television and co-showruns alongside John Hlavin, with both also writing and executive producing. Tim Van Patten directs the first two episodes and serves as an additional executive producer, with A+E Studios producing in association with Range Studios.

A Weekly Rollout Through the Holidays

After its two-episode premiere on October 30, Nocturne will roll out new episodes every Friday, wrapping its first season on December 25. That slow-burn weekly release puts the whole run squarely in the middle of the fall and holiday streaming calendar, giving Apple TV a crime drama to lean on while other platforms wind down their own fall premieres.
