Diablo 4 Season 15: Everything You Need to Know About the Rebirth Update

Diablo 4 is closing in on its next seasonal reset, and this one comes with the biggest structural change the game has seen in years. Season 15 finished its Public Test Realm run in early August, and Blizzard has already confirmed a full overhaul to how Mythic items work, a brand new way to bring old characters forward, and several systems it’s saving for a bigger reveal. Here’s everything confirmed so far, and what’s still left to learn.

The Headline Feature: Rebirth

The biggest addition in Season 15 is a system called Rebirth, and it solves a complaint players have had since Diablo 4 launched. Rebirth lets you take a character from the permanent Eternal realm and convert it into a fresh Seasonal character instead of rolling a brand new hero from scratch. The character keeps its class, name, appearance, cosmetics, and playtime history, but resets to level 1 and starts the season’s Battle Pass and questline from the beginning. There’s a catch: every item equipped on that character has to be moved to the stash (or destroyed) before Rebirth can be used, so nothing carries over in terms of gear or Paragon progress.

A Full Rework of Mythic Uniques

Season 15 also reworks how players get Mythic Uniques, splitting the process into two distinct paths. The Horadric Cube now offers a direct, deterministic upgrade that converts a regular Unique into its Mythic version while preserving its affixes, tempering, and masterworking, though the result is marked with a “Crafted” tag that limits players to only one Crafted Mythic equipped at a time. The alternative is the Jeweler, who can craft random class-specific Mythics through rune crafting without that tag, meaning players can equip multiple Jeweler-made Mythics at once. On top of that, the Blacksmith’s Mythic Cache has been changed to drop either a Mythic Unique or an Iconic Mythic without the Crafted restriction, giving players another way around the one-Crafted-item limit.

Soul Splinters, Challenge Dungeons, and Legacy Uniques

Beyond Rebirth and the Mythic changes, Season 15 is bringing a handful of new systems. Soul Splinters are a new category of socketable items, eight in total across five rarities, that grant stats and resistances alongside a stronger signature effect that comes with a tradeoff, such as extra damage in exchange for reduced critical hit chance. Challenge Dungeons add tougher boss encounters accessible through random Overland portals, with difficulty that scales up to three Torment tiers above whatever level you’re already playing at, though Blizzard has said the final version will differ from what appeared on the PTR. Nine Legacy Uniques are also being added permanently across all versions of the game, pulling classic items like Leoric’s Crown and the Stone of Jordan in from the original Diablo titles, alongside sixteen new unique Charms.

When Does Season 15 Start?

Diablo 4 is currently in Season 14, Season of Death Awakening, which launched on June 30, 2026, and introduced Pandemonium Ruptures along with new monster families like the Risen and the Realmwalkers. The Season 15 PTR ran from August 4 to August 11, and Blizzard has confirmed a full class rebalance for the Warlock is also part of the update, alongside the systems above. What Blizzard hasn’t confirmed yet is Season 15’s official theme name or its exact launch date, saying only that there’s more to share at BlizzCon. That makes this weekend’s show the next place to watch: BlizzCon 2026 runs September 12 and 13 in Anaheim and includes a dedicated Diablo developer update panel, which is likely where the season’s name, date, and any remaining surprises will be confirmed. Going by past seasons, which have typically run for two to three months, Season 15 could realistically launch sometime in the weeks after the show, but that’s an estimate based on the pattern rather than anything Blizzard has locked in.
