Diablo 4’s 30th Anniversary Season Was Delayed by a Flood of Login Errors, But It’s Now Live
Diablo 4’s newest season had a rough start. Season 15, “Season of Hell’s Legacy,” was scheduled to go live on September 15, but a wave of login errors hit the moment the gates were supposed to open, forcing Blizzard to delay the launch for several hours. The season is now live, but the rocky rollout briefly overshadowed what’s meant to be a celebration of Diablo’s 30th anniversary.

Season of Hell’s Legacy brings a full slate of new systems, but players had to wait a few extra hours to try them.
A Wave of Error Codes on Launch Day
As soon as Season 15 was supposed to begin, players across platforms started running into login failures, most commonly error code 3000008. On top of the login trouble, the season’s new Rebirth feature, which converts an existing Eternal realm character into a fresh Seasonal one, added its own headaches. Some players who used Rebirth reported their seasonal progress didn’t reset the way it was supposed to, leaving characters in a broken in-between state rather than a clean season start.
Blizzard’s Response, and the Season Going Live
Blizzard acknowledged the login issues on its forums shortly after launch, saying the team was investigating. A few hours later, it confirmed the season was being held back entirely, telling players “Season 15 is currently delayed” while a fix was worked on. Later that same day, Season of Hell’s Legacy went live for everyone. One feature is still sitting out the celebration, though: Solo Self-Found mode remains disabled, and Blizzard hasn’t given a timeline for when it will return.
What’s Actually in Season of Hell’s Legacy
Once the servers settled down, players got access to a season built around Diablo’s 30th anniversary, tracing back to the original game’s 1996 release. The centerpiece is a nostalgic activity called Waking Nightmares, which recreates iconic boss fights from across the series, including a return appearance from Deckard Cain and a confrontation with Diablo himself, marking the Lord of Terror’s first proper appearance within Diablo 4. Nine Legacy Unique items are also being added permanently to both the Seasonal and Eternal realms, pulling classic gear like the Stone of Jordan, Leoric’s Crown, and Messerschmidt’s Reaver in from earlier games in the series. The season also carries over the Rebirth system and Mythic Unique overhaul Blizzard detailed during the PTR (full breakdown here), and it marks the first time Diablo 4 is available on Nintendo Switch 2.
The bumpy launch comes at a busy moment for the franchise. Diablo 4’s own expansion development has wrapped, with Season 15’s anniversary content and a javelin-wielding Amazon class due in early 2027 rounding out its remaining roadmap, while Blizzard’s attention increasingly turns to Diablo 5, confirmed for a Spring 2029 release at BlizzCon 2026 earlier this month.
