Silent Hill: Townfall: Everything You Need to Know Before It Launches on September 24

In less than two weeks, Konami and Annapurna Interactive are sending players back to a fog-choked corner of Scotland. Silent Hill: Townfall launches September 24, and it is doing something no mainline entry in the series has done before: putting the camera directly behind the protagonist’s eyes. With a new developer, a new setting and a first-person perspective all in play, here is everything confirmed about the game so far.

Release Date, Platforms and Exclusivity

Silent Hill: Townfall releases on September 24, 2026 for PS5, Steam and the Epic Games Store. The PS5 version is a timed console exclusive, meaning an Xbox release will not arrive until at least six months after launch. Anyone who buys the Deluxe Edition gets a head start regardless of platform, since it unlocks 48 hours of early access starting September 22.

A New Studio Behind the Fog

Townfall is being built by Screen Burn Interactive, the Scottish studio formerly known as No Code, best known for Stories Untold and Observation. No Code and Annapurna Interactive first announced the project back in October 2022, with Konami co-publishing as the platform holder of the Silent Hill IP. The studio rebranded to Screen Burn in 2025, but the roster and the project itself carried over unchanged.

Story and Setting: St. Amelia, 1996

The game is set in 1996 on St. Amelia, a fictional Scottish coastal town visually modeled on the real village of St Monans in Fife. Protagonist Simon Ordell wakes up near the town’s docks with almost nothing on him besides an IV bag and a medical wristband bearing his own name, and no memory of how he got there. A mysterious voice reaching him through a handheld television set tells him to find a woman named Zoe, and from there the search for her becomes the spine of the whole story.

Zoe turns out to be a nurse who worked at St. Amelia’s clinic before she vanished, and Simon has no personal connection to her at all going in. Piecing together her disappearance, against the backdrop of what looks like a town-wide medical outbreak, is how players uncover both her story and their own. It is a standalone entry, not a direct sequel to any mainline Silent Hill game, so no prior series knowledge is required going in.

Meet the Cast

Konami revealed the English voice cast during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 in late August, alongside a new trailer showing off more of the town. Jovan Adepo voices Simon, Kezia Burrows plays Zoe, and Terry O’Quinn rounds out the main trio as a character named Richard. We covered the trailer’s debut in our full Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 recap.

How the CRTV Changes Combat and Puzzles

The biggest departure from series tradition is the camera. Townfall plays entirely in first person, and instead of the classic pocket radio, Simon carries a handheld CRTV device that picks up nearby threats as bursts of static, letting players peek at danger before it finds them. Physically twisting the controller tunes the CRTV’s signal, and the same static often doubles as a clue system tied to Zoe’s and the town’s backstory. Combat leans on improvised weapons like planks and pipes, but Townfall pushes evasion and hiding over head-on fighting for a lot of its encounters.

Director Jon McKellan described the puzzle design as “a way to understand the situation Simon finds himself in,” rather than just a gate blocking progress.
