GTA 6 DualSense Controller Preorders Sell Out Fast, and Scalpers Are Already Cashing In
Sony’s Vice City themed hardware has become the newest flashpoint in the countdown to Grand Theft Auto 6. The two limited-edition DualSense controllers that PlayStation unveiled alongside its September 3 State of Play went up for preorder on September 10, and the white edition sold out shortly after going live. Scalpers wasted no time listing it on eBay for well above retail.
Two Controllers, One Vice City Sunset

PlayStation describes the pair as sharing a shimmering, color-shifting finish that brings together the hues of a Vice City sunset and the glow of neon lights. The black edition leans into the city’s nightlife energy, while the white edition captures its daytime side, with pastel skies and white sand tones. Both share matching palm tree detailing molded directly into the controller body alongside official GTA VI branding, plus the standard DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Each controller retails for $84.99 and ships on November 19, the same day Grand Theft Auto 6 launches.
Preorders Sell Out, Scalpers Move In

Preorders opened at 10 a.m. local time on September 10 through PlayStation Direct, with the white edition also available at select retail partners. The white controller sold out almost immediately, while the black edition, a PlayStation Direct exclusive in the US, has stayed in stock so far. The rush also put a strain on PlayStation Direct itself, with fans reporting hour long queues and checkout errors during the launch window.
With the white controller gone from official storefronts, eBay quickly filled the gap. Resellers are listing it for around $140, and some listings have reportedly climbed as high as $195, well above the $84.99 sticker price. GameSpot pointed out that these listings arguably break eBay’s own presale rules, which require items to ship within 40 business days of purchase, a threshold these controllers blow past since they don’t ship until November. So far, enforcement has been essentially nonexistent.
Part of a Bigger Buildup
The controllers are just the latest piece of merchandise riding Grand Theft Auto 6’s momentum ahead of its November 19 release. Rockstar’s Extended Look trailer already pulled in massive numbers after its Netflix debut, and the wave of hype and hardware sales that followed hasn’t slowed down since. If the DualSense scramble is any indication, demand for anything wearing the Vice City brand isn’t cooling off before launch.
As of this writing, the black edition is still up for preorder directly through PlayStation, and stock on the white edition has reportedly fluctuated since its initial sellout. We’ll keep an eye on availability as November 19 gets closer.
