Capcom Spotlight TGS 2026 Recap: A New Mega Man Game, a Monster Hunter Wilds Expansion, and Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Big October
Capcom kicked off Tokyo Game Show week with its Capcom Spotlight, a 40 minute online showcase that aired September 16, a day ahead of the physical show floor opening at Makuhari Messe from September 17 through 21. The broadcast covered a wide slate of Capcom’s franchises, from a brand new Mega Man game to fresh expansion news and release dates for some of the publisher’s biggest current hits.
A New Mega Man Game Enters the Ring
The biggest surprise of the show was Mega Man: Dual Override, a new entry built around Capcom’s Blue Bomber and, for the first time as a fully playable character, Proto Man. The two heroes fight side by side, each backed by an Override system for special abilities and a Custom Chip system with more than 50 upgradeable chips to mix and match. Capcom is framing the game as part of the franchise’s 40th anniversary celebrations, and it’s set to launch in Spring 2027 across PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
Alongside the reveal, Capcom’s other 2026 shooter, Pragmata, is getting a free Mega Man Pack (Mega Man and Roll themed outfits, gestures, and music) when it drops on September 17, on top of a 20 percent discount, tying the crossover directly into the anniversary push.
Monster Hunter Wilds Is Getting a Major Expansion
Monster Hunter Wilds had two separate pieces of news. The base game is finally coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4, 2026, bringing the hit hunting game to Nintendo’s hybrid console for the first time. Then, later in 2027, an expansion called Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance will arrive on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC, bringing back the fire breathing Elder Dragon Teostra as its headline monster and introducing a new Boost Bracer system built around the fight.

Teostra is confirmed as the headline monster for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, out in 2027.
Capcom also confirmed several quality of life changes that will ship with Ascendance and get retrofitted into the base game: weapon swapping without needing to mount a Seikret first, the ability to change equipment outside the tent through the Item Box, and free character re-editing that removes the need for paid vouchers.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Locks In an October Date
Capcom confirmed Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, its expansion for the 2024 action RPG, will launch on October 9, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, the game’s first appearance on Nintendo hardware. The expansion adds a new story and enemies set in a region called Norgan, along with an updated character creator.
Street Fighter 6 Welcomes Arjun
Street Fighter 6’s newest DLC fighter, Arjun, arrives October 13, alongside C. Viper’s fourth alternate outfit, a swimsuit themed look releasing the same day.
Resident Evil’s Anniversary Year Keeps Rolling
Capcom used part of the Spotlight to tout Resident Evil’s 30th anniversary year, noting that Resident Evil Requiem, released back in February, has now surpassed six million players worldwide, making it the fastest selling entry in series history. It’s the latest sign of momentum for a publisher that’s been on something of a roll lately, from Onimusha’s success reviving talk of a Devil May Cry comeback to a packed slate of remasters and expansions still to come.
