Denuvo Sues Anonymous Game Cracker ‘voices38’ Over 26 Games, Including Black Myth: Wukong and Hogwarts Legacy
Denuvo, the anti-tamper DRM technology owned by Irdeto, has filed a lawsuit against an anonymous game cracker known only by the pseudonym “voices38,” accusing them of bypassing its Anti-Tamper protection in 26 different games. The complaint was filed on September 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California under case number 5:26-cv-10423-NC.
Who Is voices38?
voices38 has emerged as one of the most prolific Denuvo crackers of 2026, especially after veteran cracker Empress largely stepped back from the scene. The pseudonymous cracker is active across Reddit, Discord, and at least seven identified Steam profiles, and reportedly released five separate Denuvo cracks in a single day earlier this month. Denuvo says it doesn’t know voices38’s real identity, referring to them in the filing only as “an unknown individual or entity.”
What the Lawsuit Is Asking For
The complaint seeks statutory damages of $200 to $2,500 per violation, injunctive relief including a permanent injunction, attorney’s fees, and a jury trial. Denuvo is also asking the court to bar voices38 from circumventing its Anti-Tamper protection in any future games, including titles that haven’t been released yet. In the filing, Denuvo describes voices38 as a hacker focused on reverse engineering, hacking, and cracking games “employing Denuvo’s Anti-Tamper product.”
Hogwarts Legacy is one of the 26 games named in Denuvo’s lawsuit against voices38.

voices38 has also released cracks for several other high-profile titles in recent weeks, including Persona 3 Reload, Star Wars Outlaws, and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, though those releases aren’t part of the formal 26-game list in this complaint.
voices38 Isn’t Worried
Shortly after news of the lawsuit spread, voices38 posted a brief response on the r/CrackWatch subreddit: “All is fine. Everything will continue as normal.” It’s the kind of defiant, business-as-usual reply that’s become a running theme among high-profile DRM crackers facing legal pressure.
Why This Case Matters
Denuvo’s Anti-Tamper technology is licensed by major publishers like EA, Ubisoft, Capcom, and Sony to protect new releases during their crucial launch window, but it has a long history of eventually getting cracked, sometimes within days of launch. Denuvo rarely goes after individual crackers in court, which makes this lawsuit a notable shift from simply patching security holes to actively pursuing legal action. How Denuvo plans to identify and serve a pseudonymous defendant remains unclear, but the case could set a precedent for how anti-piracy firms respond to their most prolific opponents going forward.
