The Duskbloods Delayed to 2027 as FromSoftware Reworks Game Rules and Balancing

FromSoftware has officially delayed The Duskbloods, its Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive multiplayer action game, pushing the launch out of its originally planned 2026 window and into 2027. The studio confirmed the move in a statement shared on its social media accounts, apologizing to players who have been waiting for a release date since the game’s reveal in 2025.

Why FromSoftware Is Taking More Time

FromSoftware did not give a precise new release date, but said the extra time is going toward final adjustments to the game’s rules and balancing. The studio pointed to its August network test as a key factor, saying it saw strong player interest in The Duskbloods’ core concepts, including combat, strategic depth, and player expression, and wants to further refine those systems before launch.

“We have made the decision to move the launch window to 2027.”

The Duskbloods pits players against each other and against hostile, system-driven threats in online PvPvE matches.

What We Still Don’t Know

The August network test was the first broad look at The Duskbloods’ PvPvE structure, with matches of up to eight players contending with each other while also facing shifting objectives, locations, and enemy encounters. Reaction to that test was mixed, with some players praising the ambition and variety while others found the objectives and reward structure confusing, and the first session was also hit by connection problems that reportedly smoothed out in later rounds. FromSoftware hasn’t said exactly when a firmer release date will follow, only that The Duskbloods now targets 2027 on Switch 2. The studio’s director Hidetaka Miyazaki first unveiled the game in 2025 as a spiritual successor of sorts to Bloodborne, and fans curious about that gothic world’s lore or looking for something else to play on Switch 2 in the meantime can check out Gamersuniverse’s breakdown of Elden Ring Tarnished Edition’s launch on the console.
