Fortnitemares 2026 Brings Five Nights at Freddy’s, Freddy Krueger, and Slender Man to Fortnite Starting October 1

Epic Games has confirmed that Five Nights at Freddy’s is joining Fortnite as part of Fortnitemares 2026, the battle royale’s annual Halloween event, arriving October 1. A reveal trailer posted to Fortnite’s official social channels on September 27 showed off Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy as in-game outfits, and it was quickly followed by key art teasing several more horror crossovers joining the event throughout the month.

Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza Comes to the Island

For weeks before the announcement, players had noticed a restaurant slowly going up on the Fortnite map, and that building is now confirmed as Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, arriving alongside the crossover. Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy will be playable outfits with reactive “Withered” alternate styles that reference the animatronics’ damaged look from Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, changing appearance as the skins take damage in a match. Epic has also confirmed matching cosmetics built around the collaboration, including back bling and weapon skins, though it hasn’t detailed exactly what mode or map changes will ship alongside the animatronics themselves. Five Nights at Freddy’s was created by Scott Cawthon and has been developed since 2019 by Steel Wool Studios, whose most recent entry, Help Wanted 2, released in 2023.

A Bigger Horror Lineup Teased for October

Fortnite’s official key art for Fortnitemares 2026 goes well beyond FNAF. It shows Fortnite’s Jonesy and a pumpkin-headed companion hiding behind a tombstone as Freddy Fazbear, Freddy Krueger, Slender Man, The Purge’s Lady Liberty, and Black Clover’s Asta all close in, with a second tombstone reading “Betelgeuse” widely read as a tease for a Beetlejuice crossover later in the event. Krueger’s design closely follows Robert Englund’s look from A Nightmare on Elm Street, down to the striped sweater and fedora. Epic hasn’t said when in October each additional collaboration actually goes live in the item shop, and reaction to the reveal has been strong, with fan trackers describing it as one of the best-received crossover announcements Fortnite has had this year, though Epic itself hasn’t shared official engagement numbers.

What’s Still Unconfirmed

Dataminers and leakers have floated a survival mode built around the pizzeria, including one where players could take control of the animatronics to hunt others, but Epic Games has not officially confirmed any specific game mode tied to the crossover, so those details remain speculation until the event goes live. As of this writing, Epic also hasn’t published a write-up on Fortnite’s own news page, with every reveal so far coming through the game’s social media accounts. Fortnitemares 2026 launches October 1, marking the island’s biggest event since Fortnite OG Season X’s Reality Wave update earlier this month.
