Neagley Renewed for Season 2 at Prime Video as Reacher Spinoff Nears 40 Million Viewers

Prime Video has renewed Neagley for a second season, the Reacher spinoff’s first renewal announced on October 1, just over two weeks after its eight-episode debut season landed on September 16. The pickup lands in the same stretch in which Amazon has doubled down on the Jack Reacher universe, having already handed the flagship series an early Season 6 renewal on September 28.

A Spinoff That Found Its Own Audience

Neagley stars Maria Sten as Frances Neagley, a Chicago private investigator and former member of the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit who served under Jack Reacher. Season 1 picks up after she learns a friend from her past was killed in a suspicious accident, pulling her back into the kind of violence she thought she’d left behind. Alan Ritchson appears in a guest starring role as Reacher himself, with Nick Santora and Nicholas Wootton developing the series out of a storyline set up in the Season 3 finale of the flagship show. Season 1 premiered to a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and Amazon says the debut run has since drawn around 40 million viewers in its first 13 days of availability, a self-reported figure the streamer hasn’t had independently audited but is pointing to as one of its stronger original series debuts.

What’s Next for Neagley

Peter Friedlander, Amazon MGM Studios’ head of global television, praised the series while announcing the renewal, saying “audiences around the world have embraced Frances Neagley as a force all her own.” He credited Santora and Wootton with building out a world that stands on its own away from Reacher, with Amazon MGM Studios continuing its partnership with Paramount Television Studios on the franchise going forward. No premiere window or Season 2 plot details have been revealed yet, and with Reacher’s own Season 5 still filming in Toronto for a planned late 2027 debut and Season 6 not expected before 2028, Neagley has room to carve out its own release slot in the meantime.
