The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Gets a November Release Date, and Link Can Finally Jump
Nintendo kicked off its Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on September 8 with the announcement fans have been waiting on since June: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake for Nintendo Switch 2 now has a release date, a price, and a first real look at how much has actually changed under the hood. It wasn’t the only reveal, either. Nintendo used the anniversary as a launchpad for a special edition console, new amiibo, a concert tour, and the first official details on its live action movie.
Release Date, Price, and the Gameplay Changes That Matter

The Ocarina of Time remake launches November 5, 2026, exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2, priced at $59.99 for the digital edition, with a $69.99 physical release that gets a limited textured foil box art variant while supplies last. Beyond the visual overhaul, which leans into a more stylized, realistic take on Hyrule Field, the Deku Tree, an enlarged Hyrule town square, and Kokiri Forest, Nintendo confirmed a handful of changes that go beyond a fresh coat of paint.
Link can jump whenever the player wants for the first time in the series, replacing the original’s automatic hops over ledges and gaps, and a new sprint move has been added alongside it. Cutscenes now feature full voice acting, menus support quick weapon swapping in the style of Breath of the Wild, and the ocarina itself has been reworked to use the Switch 2’s built in microphone, letting players hum or sing songs for Link to play back instead of relying on button prompts alone.
A Zelda-Themed Switch 2 Is Arriving First

Nintendo isn’t waiting for the game to sell a matching console. The Nintendo Switch 2, The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition arrives October 29, 2026, a week ahead of the remake, with Triforce motifs worked into the system, the dock, and the Joy-Con 2 controllers. It ships without the game itself, and Nintendo has confirmed a matching Pro Controller and a carrying case as separate purchases. Pricing is only official in Japan so far, where the console is listed at 62,980 yen including tax, with Western pricing expected closer to launch.
Amiibo, a World Tour, and an Untitled Zelda Movie
The rest of the Direct leaned into the anniversary angle. New Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo are planned for 2027 and are said to unlock in game masks when used with the Ocarina of Time remake. Nintendo also confirmed a 40th anniversary concert tour kicking off in 2027, with dates already locked in across Japan, North America, Europe, and Australia, and more cities expected once tickets go on sale later this September. On the movie side, Nintendo’s live action Zelda film now has an official title, simply The Legend of Zelda, along with a confirmed April 30, 2027 release date, though the reveal stuck to a logo this time around rather than a trailer.
